Traditional weaving in Tafí del Valle
When the Spanish invaded the region of Tucumán, aborigines who inhabited the region wore clothing woven from the wool of the llama, guanaco, alpaca and vicuña.
The new inhabitants brought their technical knowledge of the pedal driven spinning wheel.
Along with these innovations, the existence and knowledge of dye containing plants in the area resulted in mestizo fabric, which, with the addition of modern industrial dye is still used today.
